Around 9 o’clock in the morning of Thursday, May 9th, 2013, the 1910 John C. Sjolander House began its journey down Sjolander Road, to Archer Road, and finally arrived at North Main Street to its new home at the Republic of Texas Plaza Park.

The Sjolander family donated the house and the funds for the move as well as for the exterior restoration work. John P. Sjolander, the farmer-poet known as the Sage of Cedar Bayou, helped to build this quaint two-bedroom home for his son and daughter-in-law who raised their six children in it.

“We are thrilled to be adding a piece of Cedar Bayou’s history to our collection.” ~ Baytown Historical Preservation Association

John P. Sjolander was my great, great-grandfather.

John C. Sjolander was my great grand-uncle.
